Honda and Nissan are in discussions to form a partnership, aiming to establish a new conglomerate focused on electric vehicles (EVs).

Honda and Nissan are in early discussions to establish a new holding company, aiming to strengthen their position in the rapidly growing EV market. The collaboration, which will also include Mitsubishi (part of The Alliance), seeks to help the Japanese automakers compete against Tesla and Chinese EV manufacturers on a global scale.

Highlights:

Rumors suggest that the proposed holding company will bring Honda and Nissan under one umbrella, allowing them to share resources and expertise. Mitsubishi’s inclusion further strengthens the alliance, although Renault, another member of The Alliance, may not initially be part of this venture.

The collaboration is expected to impact the Indian market as well, with co-developed EV products potentially making their way to India. While talks began in March 2024, both companies have stated they will provide updates to stakeholders at the appropriate time.
